A Legacy of Wave Makers

With a rich farming history dating back to 1771, Warwick officially came to be when it was named after a retired Colonel of the British Army in 1901 – a tribute to his Warwickshire regiment. Once a fruit farm, Warwick only truly emerged to the forefront of the South African wine scene when Stan and Norma Ratcliffe bought the estate in 1964. Together, they developed the land to become a premier winemaking destination. Located in Simonsberg, the Ratcliffes’s established themselves as pioneers, with the Cape’s first female winemaker Norma at the helm. In 2017, Warwick was purchased by San Francisco-based Charles Marston and Kishore Bopardikar, who continue on the legacy of wavemakers as two visionaries in their own right. Christiane von Arnim joined as CEO in 2018, completing Warwick’s circle of First Ladies at the helm.
